After acceptance of our quotation and signing of the Contract, we arrange engineering specifications, specific to your pool. We also arrange the Builders’ Warranty Insurance, which is a statutory requirement overseen by the Building Practitioners’ Board. In addition to this insurance, Coastal Pools also has Public and Product Liability insurance, and its workers are covered by WorkCover. On receipt of the engineering drawings and Warranty Insurance Certificate, we then arrange for a Building Permit through our Building Surveyors and the relevant Shire Council. On issue of your Permit, work will normally commence within one to two weeks. We have used the same excavator operator for over 15 years and his expertise ensures minimum site disturbance and inconvenience. Usually, the next day the internal plumbing is commenced and the steel formwork is set in place. Concreting of the shell is normally completed within the week. There are standards for pool fencing and/or isolation barriers. Prior to a swimming pool being filled, the fencing or other isolation method is inspected by our Building Inspector to ensure that all standards are met. Until your fencing is approved, the pool cannot be filled, and in the case of a quartz render interior, the interior cannot be completed as water needs to be added within 24 hours. We do not provide fencing, as there are so many different types and styles available and this is very much a personal preference item. We can however recommend fencing companies to you. The Swimming Pool & Spa Association Victoria has recently piloted a programme called the Water Neutral Pool. This is to use both water saving and water harvesting devices to ensure that your pool is “water-wise”. Some features of a water neutral pool are:
With stage 3A water restrictions in place, we are not allowed to fill pools from the mains water supply. We do have alternative water suppliers who will truck in spring or other water to enable the filling of the pool. This is provided to you at our cost, and no premium for this service is charged. Having been in the swimming pool industry for so long and being local to the Mornington Peninsula, we are happy to recommend ancillary trades such as electricians and licensed plumbers/gas fitters where required. We do not charge for this service, and the tradespeople we recommend are experts in the equipment we use and the legislative requirements involved in placement of power/gas lines etc. We are however happy to work with your preferred tradespeople if you wish. |
